FAQ's

1. What's the big idea?

The idea is simple: to try and make $1m by selling 1,000,000 pixels for $1 each and give your site powerful, yet inexpensive, exposure.  This is not a 'link-farm'... we are not asking for a reciprocal link - you will have an image with a link, which means an 'incoming link' (search engine magic) coming from a powerful page.  The more that the homepage builds and the longer that it exists on the search engines, the more powerful it gets.  Not to mention the daily thousands of people fascinated by the homepage and clicking directly onto your site.  It's the simplest form of internet advertising.  It's a permanent banner for a one time cost.

So, everyone who has a site is welcome to buy our pixels, which are available in 100-pixel 'blocks'. You will see that the homepage to be divided into 100-pixel blocks (there are 1,000,000 pixels in total). The reason for selling them in 100-pixel blocks is because anything smaller would be too small to display anything meaningful and would make the page appear 'messy'.  We will stop at 1m pixels.

You can buy as many pixels as you like, as long as there are some available (you will see the updated stats in the top right corner of the page). When you buy some pixels, you can then display an image/ad/logo of your choice in the space you have purchased. Your image will click through to your website. No obscene or offensive images are allowed.

The pixels you buy will be displayed on the homepage permanently. The homepage will not change. Using some of the money I make from the site, I guarantee to keep it online for many years. I want it to become a kind of internet time capsule. So, in the long run, we believe the pixels will offer excellent value. You will have a piece of internet history!

2. Who are you?

My name is Robert, I'm 40 years old and I live in a small town in Florida (USA). I'm a husband and father of a beautiful 6 yr old daughter.  I recently lost my job and also on the verge of foreclosure of our home of 10+ yrs.  I'm doing this in an effort, while I look for another job, to help us save our home and have some stability.

Life is not cheap, and faced with the prospect of unemployment with debt, I thought I'd try and make some money for my family ($1m should do the trick!).

3. Is this for real/genuine?

I am completely genuine and although this site might be entertaining in some ways, it is not a joke! I really am selling pixels for $1 each, because I don't want monstrous debt and don't want to lose my house. I want to get back on track and want to enjoy my family. I am a pixel peddler for now trying to do just so.  I'm offering a unique, quality, and tremendous product in order to make money.  Pure and simple.

Am I actually 40 yrs old and jobless? Fair question I guess. The answer is of course yes.

4. How did you come up with the idea?

Well, I'm not exactly inventing the wheel here.  Just tweaking it, simplifying it and making more interesting.  I believe that there more ways than one to do something. You see, I have a passion for the internet and internet marketing. I used to own a small local rental company which is where I learned how awesome and powerful the internet is... and how it works.  Through the years that I had our business website, I learned a lot about how Google and other search engines work, as well as their relationship with websites.  I was fortunate enough to have learned 'search engine optimization' from someone who did it full time for a living, and there the passion was born... in conjunction with the success I had with various websites I built.  So, in order to provide a powerful and interesting website marketing port, while making money at the same time, I built this site... and I will build no more like this.  1m pixels and I'm done.  This site will the one and only I create like this.  But the bottom line is to make money. I see nothing wrong with making money and I'm not going to lie about that.

5. Why do you need $1m?

I don't. Raising a family with debt is expensive, but not quite that steep, at least in Florida. But with this project I knew I had to aim high - my thinking being that even if I only got a small percent of a million dollars, that it would help get things back in order.  More would be icing on the cake.

In fact, making any money whatsoever by selling pixels had to be worth a try. After all, I had plenty of pixels to start with! Furthermore, I knew the site had to be interesting in order to catch people's attention - anything else just wouldn't cut it.  Remember, this is the internet.

6. What will you do with the money?

First and foremost, if I make enough money, I will catch up on the mortgage and other bills.  Would be nice to pay them all off, but I don't want to be greedy.  Next, if any funds remain I would like to also put some money in savings and set up a college fund for my daughter.

I would lalso ike to pay off money owed to our family and friends from money we borrowed to stay afloat (alive, if you will).

Finally... if I reach the $1m target and what money we have left over after catching up paying bills and setting some aside, then I have a couple of interesting business ideas I would love to invest some money in. So watch this site!

7. Why should I buy advertising on your site?

Because you will have an image and a link to your site on the homepage of a site that will potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years.  Not to mention the all powerful 'incoming link' that search engines love. The site will be online for many years, that's guaranteed, but the idea is to keep it online forever. So you really could own a piece of 'internet history'!

8. Why can't I buy just a single pixel?

I decided that although it would probably be cool if individuals could buy a single pixel each, in truth, it wouldn't effective. The reason I believe this is because you can't display anything meaningful in one pixel - nor click it easily - so visually, it would be pointless. With thousands of random tiny colored dots all over the place, the homepage would look messy and blah.

I also thought that the site would appeal more to people with businesses/websites to advertise than it would to individuals, or to put it more accurately, businesses would pay more to have a meaningful graphic on the homepage. Hence the minimum purchase is $100 - 100 pixels.

9. If you need money, why don't you just get a job?

Well, I am currently looking for employment or for an honest business opportunity. I've had a few different jobs in the past, but it's not really how my brain likes to work. My natural disposition is to think of ideas and be more self sufficient.  I like to create interesting things and create ways of doing things differently than 'corporations' do. This is much more pleasurable to do, with a potential higher reward. That's no joke, it's just honesty.  If I can provide a good service and make money, then I'm happy.
